A member of the U.S. Army 3/187th Scouts from Fort Campbell, KY, takes a break at a bombed out building on April 12, 2002, at Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan.

 

The Scouts, and the Lord Strathcona's Force (Royal Canadian) Reconnaissance Squadron "RECCE" 2TP from Edmonton Canada, along with the Afghanistan Military Forces (AMF) have been conducting surveillance of the outer perimeter of the Air Base. This small multinational force is positioned at the North Tower on the outer perimeter outside of Kandahar airport during Operation Enduring Freedom.

 

Their mission is to play a surveillance role on the outer perimeter with the capability of providing direct fire support. Kandahar Airport is home to over 5000 U.S. and Multinational Armed Services.
